Course Overview

This is online advanced study program is designed to encourage active participation and discussion on herbal treatment for conditions commonly seen in clinical practice. In each module Dr. Cannon will provide an overview of a particular condition with in-depth information on the most effective herbal treatment to be used. Acupuncture and other CM approaches to treatment will also be discussed.

The program is available to everyone who has completed Dr. Cannon’s previous CHM study programs, practitioners who graduated with CHM as part of their master’s degree and actively use CHM in their practices.

**All online live classes are recorded for future access by all participants at their convenience.

Course Calendar and Cost

The program consists of 4 six-week modules of 2-hour live lectures each Tuesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm MST. (Total of 48 program hours)

  • Module 1:     Tuesday September 7, 2021 through Tuesday October 12, 2021
  • Module 2:     Tuesday November 2, 2021 through Tuesday December 14, 2021 (no class Thanksgiving week)
  • Module 3:     Tuesday January 4, 2022 through Tuesday February 8, 2022
  • Module 4:     Tuesday March 2, 2022 through Tuesday April 6, 2022

Course Content

Module 1:      Gynecology

Module 1 provides an overview of the Chinese and Western medicine understanding of the menstrual cycle, with an in-depth discussion of how to treat menstrual cycles imbalances according the the phases of the cycle. Additionally, the treatment of complex disorders such as endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and fibroids will be presented and discussed.

Module 2:     Chronic pain and inflammatory conditions

Module 2 provides an of inflammation from both a Chinese and western medicine perspective, with an in-depth discussion of how inflammatory conditions are treated with Chinese herbal medicine and other CM protocols. Conditions such as chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohns disease, and other inflammatory conditions (including long-haul/post Covid) will be covered.

Module 3:     The Shen

Module 3 provides an understanding of the Shen from the Chinese medicine classics, along with contemporary perspectives on Shen disturbances seen in clinical practice. Formulas and treatment approaches for depression, anxiety and other mood disorders will be discussed, along with the challenges of working with clients who are taking pharmaceuticals.

Module 4:     Complex cases and their management

Module 4 provides an opportunity for participants to share complex cases from their clinical practice to gain insight as to useful treatment approaches that may be used. Dr. Cannon will also be providing complex cases and their treatment for discussion by the group.

CEU and PDA Hours
